Understanding ADHD: The Assessment Process at Risework
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects a person’s ability to focus, manage time, regulate impulses, and stay organized. While it's often associated with children, many adults live with undiagnosed ADHD well into their 20s, 30s, and beyond. Often, these struggles are thought to be personality flaws, burnout, or anxiety.
ADHD in adults may not look like the hyperactivity commonly seen in children. Instead, it can show up as:
Constant mental restlessness
Difficulty starting or completing tasks
Forgetfulness or losing track of time
Emotional reactivity or low frustration tolerance
Chronic disorganization and overwhelm
Because these symptoms overlap with other mental health conditions like anxiety or depression, its understandable why many adults go undiagnosed for years. But with the right assessment, these patterns can finally make sense, opening the door to more effective support, tools, and treatment options. Getting a proper diagnosis can be a life-changing first step toward clarity, validation, and effective support.
At Risework Therapy, we offer a structured and compassionate ADHD assessment process designed specifically for adults. If you’ve been wondering whether ADHD might be impacting your life, here’s what you can expect when you book an assessment with Veronica Felizardo, one of our skilled clinicians.
