Meet Sam!

Sam DiFrancescantonio

Therapist and Founder of Risework Therapy

  • Therapist (MSW/RSW)

  • Registered in Ontario & Nova Scotia

  • Works with Individuals & Couples

I am a registered therapist with over twelve years of experience working in mental health. I’ve worked for organizations such as the Canadian Mental Health Association, George Brown College and Family Services Toronto. I spent five years in a private practice in Toronto before creating Risework Therapy in 2021.

As a therapist I work from a client-centered approach, integrating evidence-based modalities with an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. I provide clients with a non-judgmental, comfortable space that facilitates openness and encourages self-exploration. I have an eclectic approach which draws from therapeutic modalities such as Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). In my work with couples, I draw from Gottman Method and EFT.

My work is grounded in compassion and curiosity. I help clients make sense of their inner world, build a stronger sense of self-worth, and notice patterns that may no longer serve them. From there, we work together to soften the internal obstacles that can make growth and meaningful change so difficult.
