About Rob
Hello, my name is Rob. I’m a Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT) with an MEd in Counselling Psychology from the University of New Brunswick. I’ve spent two decades working in public education in roles including certified teacher, school counsellor, and district counselling lead. For the past four years, I’ve also been a private therapist supporting teens and young adults through a wide range of personal challenges.
My work in education and clinical practice has been deeply rewarding. These roles have allowed me to support individuals of all ages, helping them rediscover their strengths, navigate life transitions, and build skills that support long-term wellbeing.
In my work with clients, I value authenticity, openness, and a genuinely collaborative, client-centred approach. I strive to create a non-judgmental, relaxed, and caring therapeutic space where clients feel comfortable being themselves. My goal is to meet clients where they are while tapping into their strengths and helping them build new pathways toward their goals.
Supporting clients through the counselling process is a privilege, and I feel fortunate each time someone invites me into their journey.

We Asked & Rob Answered
What inspired you to become a therapist?
“I enjoy helping people and seeing them thrive. As far back as I remember, I have always been a helper. From coaching, volunteering to working with non-profit organizations, I was drawn to supporting, collaborating and advocating for others.
This passion initially led me to become a teacher, and while I love teaching and having my own students and classroom, my focus moved away from academics to a focus on the foundational pieces of mental health and wellness such as safety, self-worth and the social & emotional skills needed to live a fulfilled life.
Since then, I have worked in schools as a counsellor from grades Kindergarten through 12, then as a school district lead in school counselling and mental health, to now having been in private practice for the last 5 years. In all of these roles, I have had the opportunity to meet, support, teach and learn from many clients, peers and coworkers which has provided experiences and memories that have helped me grow both personally and professionally.”
What led you to your specific area of focus/speciality?
“As a youth, I had my own challenges advocating for myself. I was lucky enough to have some very caring and impactful teachers and coaches who believed in me and pushed me to see my potential. I was so fortunate to have these people in my life and it inspired me to try and help others in the same way.”
How would you describe yourself or your personality?
“A relaxed, caring connector.”
How do you create a safe and supportive environment for your clients?
“My goal is to help clients understand that I am a resource for them. I rely on clients to direct and move the sessions in a way that works with their needs. I want clients to have a voice, feel heard, validated and choose the direction and pace that works for them. I work hard to provide clients with the necessary space, care, resources and strategies for them to successfully work through difficult aspects of life.”
What’s something you wish more people understood about therapy?
“I wish that people knew that the client has the control about how and what they work on.”
What’s something clients might be surprised to learn about you?
“I’m more of an introvert.”
How do you take care of your own mental health?
“Spending time with family, friends and watching soccer.”
What would you say to someone who’s nervous about starting therapy?
“It's totally normal to be nervous, but you have the control, and you can move at a pace that works for you.”
What is something personal about you that you'd be interested in sharing with our blog audience/new referrals?
“I am a soccer fanatic, so if you don’t see me in therapy, you can usually find me at a soccer field, coaching, watching a game or at home on the TV or reading about the latest news!
I love to travel-especially to the United Kingdom (Since I was born in Scotland!), and I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and more often than not…while having some pizza.
When I am home, you can usually find me playing with Beau, my miniature schnauzer…she’s pretty awesome!”
What do you hope clients take away from working with you?
“I hope that clients take away new skills, strategies, and education. I hope my clients refocus on their skills, values and beliefs.”
